The LABORATORY 23 was
created on February 20th, 1986 and built up its reputation studying
the processes of high-power radiation field interconnections with
solid body. The researches were directed to the solution of problems
connected with the increase of radiation durability of electron
systems which are used in the space aircrafts. At
the same time the work on the technological application of charge
particle beams and plasma were started. Gradually these works became
the principal field of study in the laboratory.

Main Scientific Directions of
Laboratory
# Energy dissipation of high-power pulsed beams of
charged particles in solid body; Mass transfer in the condensed
phase, surface erosion and other processes initiated by the
high-level irradiation.
# Research of physical properties behavior of solid
body surface processed by ion beam or plasma; Development of surface
modification technology by ion beams and low-temperature plasma.
# Development of equipment for the modifying coating
deposition onto the solid body surfaces by charged particle beams
and magnetron discharge plasma.
